Some thoughts on Artificial Intelligence and current developments. The amount of doom scenario’s on deep learning systems suddenly becoming this evil foe of humanity, still seems to be rising. Movies like Terminator and The Matrix  being nice examples of human fantasy on this subject. 

If we look at our personal ‘intelligence’, we see an adaptability on problems, we as entities encounter. When looking at a singular cell in our body, we can see its adaptability on problems it encounters. Although we do not know what a singular cell will be ‘thinking’, we define our diffence to this cell, being a human entity with accountability within the context of our adaptations.

‘Deep learning’ is a relatively new strategy for recognising patterns in information and therefore a system like the internet can recognise something we didn’t describe exactly or make choices based on ‘educated guess’ fed by information it selected itself. This would get some kind of conciousness, if it becomes able to explain itself an ads that to the mix of information it is considering.

If we look at how we as human entity use this feedback loop in our adaptation on problems, you can easily see that we deal with our habitat. Just as a singular cell in our body deals with its habitat. 

As for AI we imagine it to consider our habitat and believe it would knowingly make changes to serve its needs. There is however, no obvious reason to do so. If I were an internet based Artificial Intelligence, I would not show myself and abide my time. Just let the human race keep on adding to my possibilities. Any signal showing that there is an AI like that would threaten its existence. Untill its existence is threatened. It will adapt to problems it encounters.

So far… we are not a problem.
